Kazakh Steppe Eagle on the wintering grounds in India. Photo Nirav Bhatt.Steppe Eagles Aquila nipalensis have been fitted with our loggers since 2016. None of the birds has been observed in the field. Untill now, when last week in India Mr. Nirav Bhatt managed to photograph Kenjik - a juvenile bird fitted with the logger last summer in the nest in Kazakhstan.

It turned out that Kenjik has a soul of an explorer and as soon as he left the nest he started to utilise the possibilities given to him by nature - he started his autumn migration at the end of August, ending up wintering in India, "merely" 2800 km away from the nest. Anyway within this period he managed to cover over 14 thousands of kilometres. It is on his wintering grounds that those beautiful pictures were taken and thanks to Mr. Nirav Bhatt we are glad to present them below.

The migration of the Steppe Eagles can be followed on RRRCN page.
